Position Title:Senior/Staff Backend Engineer, Security

Position Overview:

As Redo grows across multiple products, we're investing in shared security infrastructure that the whole engineering org builds on. You'll be a software engineer who designs and builds the services, libraries and middleware that make the secure path the easy path. Engineers across every Redo product should be able to build quickly and securely by default.

You'll own problems from start to finish: understand what engineers need, design the solution, build it, run it in production, and bring the rest of engineering along. The role comes with a lot of autonomy and real influence on how Redo builds software.

What You'll Work On:

Areas this team builds in include:

• Identity, authentication and session management

• Authorization, API keys and secrets management

• Encryption, tokenization and key management

• Security audit logging, rate limiting and abuse prevention

What You'll Do:

• Design, build, test, deploy and operate production backend services and libraries in TypeScript

• Build shared security platforms and patterns that engineering teams across Redo adopt

• Own your services in production, including monitoring, alerting and reliability

• Build guardrails such as shared components, CI checks and secure defaults that help engineers ship securely without slowing down

• Partner with engineering teams across the company and help raise the security bar

• Mentor engineers and give technical leadership on secure design

  
  

Required Qualifications:

• BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, mostly backend

• Strong TypeScript and Node.js skills

• Experience designing and shipping internal libraries, middleware, SDKs or platform APIs that other engineers depend on

• Ownership of production services end to end, including monitoring, alerting and reliability

• A solid grasp of security fundamentals (authentication, authorization, cryptography basics, common web vulnerabilities) and a real interest in building secure systems

• Ability to take an ambiguous problem, design the solution yourself and see it through without step-by-step direction

• Collaborative and low-ego, with the ability to influence engineers who don't report to you

Preferred Qualifications:

• Has built identity, authentication, session, or encryption/key management systems

• Experience with AWS IAM and KMS

• Experience with e-commerce platforms

• Platform or developer-experience work: building a "golden path" other teams follow

• Experience at a fast-growing startup, building systems from the ground up
